Bio
DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN’s IRE WORKS, comes on the heels of drummer, Chris Pennie leaving to join the ranks of Coheed & Cambria. This probably seems like a soul-ripping blow that could be cause for throwing in the towel. Pennie was a founding member and Ben Weinman’s right-hand man in the song writing process. DEP re-grouped with the dynamic Gil Sharone (Stolen Babies) and continued to push the envelope. Where Calculating Infinity was a combustible technical tour-de-force and Miss Machine juxtaposed the band’s explosive song crafting with dark, mature melodies, Ire Works is all about channeling the collective experience and a lot of, well, ire. “I would say these songs are just pissed off,” describes Ben. “This record is all about feel. Even the electronic elements on this record are very emotionally driven.” You not only hear their full-throttle emotional approach in the music but you also see it in their charged live shows.
