Some people say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, but don’t tell that to these guys. With roots in rock and jazz and branches from the limbs of pop, blues, and funk, Bad Apples will fall wherever they please.
James Albis (keyboards and horns), Robert Felsted, Jr. (aka BJ, bass and guitars) and Dave Witter (drums) hail from the town of East Haven, Connecticut. Playing music together since their high school days, Bad Apples started in a studio at the New England Art Institute in March of 2006, and quickly blossomed into a Red Delicious worthy of your Granny Smith’s pie.
With the release of their debut album Home (2007), Bad Apples pay homage to the place where they grew up and the people that were closest to them, while being unabashedly unopposed to poking fun at themselves in the process. Appealing to all types of audiences, Home showcases Bad Apples’ versatility - from their acute pop sensibility in “Danny Movefastly” to their jazz chops in “Jackpot” to their ability to rock in “What Makes You Go” and “Days.” Further testament to their artistic range is a guest appearance by rapper Black Child of The Inc. Records in “Moses Poses: Private Eye.”
